I bought their apps and had it running on everything I owned, but about a year or so ago, I just got fed up with it.
It's actually a branch of PS3mediaserver which does the same thing. So it shares files / folders from your PC's HD. They were one of the first to transcode content on the server side before pushing it to the client instead of just pushing the entire file. It's simpler in its approach, it's a DLNA server and that's about it. I've been with Plex since 2010, a little bit after they forked from XBMC, since they were (at the time) the only ones who could stream HD content over a network. I know it's to each their own, but I've never had a problem with Emby (aka Media Browser).
